Happy Martin Luther King Day: ..."when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" - Excerpt from: I Have A Dream: Martin Luther King/ Intellectual Properties Management. “I was a professional croquet player in the Northern California Attenuated Association of Professional Croquet, or the NCAAPC… under Sir Charles Barkley the only NBA star knighted by the Queen of England -- the big man saved the Isle of Man from sinking after a boating collision with an Irish trawler. The league became extremely popular in Northern California, Italy, Moldavia, Corsica, and Lapland, among other places. Sir Barkley established a style of croquet uniform utilizing kilts, uh, and French Foreign Legion hats, um, making the uniforms extremely cool, and the full contact body strikes from stake to stake completely re-energized the sport. Once primarily a white gentleman’s game -- secretly a gentle lady’s game too: the ladies wore external knickers but did so in private -- it became a sport dominated by the Mayans. Though croquet was invented in Cornwall by some of the same “Rights of Man” crew responsible for the Magna Carta. The NCAAPC is now 82% African American, 2% African-American owned. I was the only white guy on the team. I played goalie and outside skulker before the ’full helmet-era.’” (a version of this toon was posted earlier)
added 1/18: Carbuncle Moon post 8/30/15: Black Lives Matter might consider changing the entreaty, the statement of definition or their mission to Black Lives Matter Too (it’s likely others have suggested this). In this, they might challenge the argument that in suggesting Black Lives Matter they are mitigating the belief that All Lives Matter, but rather they are insisting, and want America to know, that Black Lives Matter Too.
