"Carney smiled. At the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, unable to flip from 1999 to 2000, contaminated by some sort of slippery virus called the “The KY Jelly Thing,” all computers on earth were going to crash, BIG TIME. Carney didn’t really care about the sex lives of computers or their inadequacies as mathematicians but web experts claimed that within weeks after the cogs imploded -- he could see this in his mind’s eye -- civilization would cease and everyone in California would be riding yaks and eating seaweed. Of course, then there’d be a humongous war and all the survivalists up on the Ridge, who had been stockpiling canned beans and ammo for a decade, would win all the yaks and all the maidens --

Today is the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army. 1.1 million people, primarily Jewish, were gassed and incinerated by the Nazis in the prison camp.
Approximately six million Jews were systematically murdered in Nazi concentration camps in World War ll, between 1939 and 1945. Before the Holocaust, the pre-war Jewish population (and as early as 1933) in Europe was approximately 9.5 million. By 2012, Europe's Jewish population was approximately 1.4 to 1.6 million. The world's Jewish population was approximately 14.2 million people in 2016. About half of the world's Jewish population lives in the U.S. - Sources: BBC/ NerLeElef-Judaism Online/ Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum web site/ Wikipedia/ Jewish Virtual Museum. A love of his children, grandchildren, a love of family: as President Trump equates his love of family to what we feel for our families that is a beginning of leadership. "Jack is wacko right now: If Pamela Anderson showed up to starch his monkey he'd probably complain that she's Canadian."
Cyber attacks directed towards the Democratic Party during the past presidential election, the theft of email of party officials, including Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, was the act of Russian hackers acting under orders of President Vladimir Putin, according to information compiled by the CIA, FBI, and NSA, as reported by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. A goal of the cyber attacks was to discredit Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president. The FBI found no link and does not believe Donald Trump was involved. Hackers provided thousands of stolen email from the Democratic National Committee to Wikileaks. - Sources: New York Times, Huffington Post, Washington Post, Vox/ Zack Beauchamp, Adam Entous, Ellen Kashima, Greg Miller Historically, the United States, Russia, China, and others, have engaged in clandestine efforts to determine the outcome of free elections in other countries. A carbuncle is a roiled mass of skin or a beautiful gem. The incredible gem is pictured in the logo below and at the bottom of the short story section...
Kevin O'Kendley is the owner of Carbuncle Moon, and the author of all original material -- cartoons, blogs, shorts, essays, articles -- on the website (there has been a very limited editorial input in some of my work). All quoted sources are noted. I am responsible for all posts. The only blogs not time-dated are those advertising nonprofits. All nonprofits are vetted, investigated, though after the summer of 2018 my vetting has lapsed: (6/1/21).
