"Carney smiled. At the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, unable to flip from 1999 to 2000, contaminated by some sort of slippery virus called the “The KY Jelly Thing,” all computers on earth were going to crash, BIG TIME. Carney didn’t really care about the sex lives of computers or their inadequacies as mathematicians but web experts claimed that within weeks after the cogs imploded -- he could see this in his mind’s eye -- civilization would cease and everyone in California would be riding yaks and eating seaweed. Of course, then there’d be a humongous war and all the survivalists up on the Ridge, who had been stockpiling canned beans and ammo for a decade, would win all the yaks and all the maidens --
"Carney would probably get the seaweed." - excerpt from China Flats, a novel by Kevin O'Kendley

Today is the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army. 1.1 million people, primarily Jewish, were gassed and incinerated by the Nazis in the prison camp.
Approximately six million Jews were systematically murdered in Nazi concentration camps in World War ll, between 1939 and 1945.
Before the Holocaust, the pre-war Jewish population (and as early as 1933) in Europe was approximately 9.5 million. By 2012, Europe's Jewish population was approximately 1.4 to 1.6 million.
The world's Jewish population was approximately 14.2 million people in 2016. About half of the world's Jewish population lives in the U.S.

The Women's March across the Earth (1/24):
Mobilized millions of women in both a protest of Donald Trump's presidency, policies, and as a mission for women in which each woman might find something to believe ...
In 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gave women the vote in America.
The year women achieved the right to vote in some other countries:
1893 New Zealand (though not yet independent of the U.K., the first)
1994 South Africa
2011 Saudi Arabia - source: infoplease
In 1923, "Alice Paul" and Crystal Eastman* "drafted and began campaigning for the ratification of an Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)" for women. In 1958, Dwight Eisenhower became the first president to endorse the amendment. Though, over the years, the Equal Rights Amendment came close to ratification it remains un-ratified to this day.

A love of his children, grandchildren, a love of family: as President Trump equates his love of family to what we feel for our families that is a beginning of leadership.

Cyber attacks directed towards the Democratic Party during the past presidential election, the theft of email of party officials, including Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, was the act of Russian hackers acting under orders of President Vladimir Putin, according to information compiled by the CIA, FBI, and NSA, as reported by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. A goal of the cyber attacks was to discredit Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president. The FBI found no link and does not believe Donald Trump was involved.

"Slippery Dick was pardoned by Congress before, uh, Ms. Clinton, Ms. I. Trump, Ms. Haley, Ms. Pingree, Ms. Giffords, Ms. Waters, Ms. Matsui, Ms. Wasserman-Schultz, Ms. Palin, Ms. Gabbard, Ms. Torres joined the ranks of some other GOGs -- Good Old Girls -- like Ms. Pelosi, Ms. Feinstein, Ms. Collins, Ms. Mitchell, and Ms. Obama, becoming senators, governors, congresspersons, etcetera, which, of course, ah, then made pardoning someone named Slippery Dick politically problematic if not outright unwise. A series of well-placed bribes, uh, arguments predicated on The Rights of Man, and, ah, blatant distortions delivered to powerful lobbyists of special interests insured Dick the wherewithal he needed to re-design his, uh, qualifications and to, eventually, become the president of the Guam Bar Association, where he presides naked whenever possible."
Happy Martin Luther King Day:
..."when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
