Kim Sang-duk became the third U.S. citizen to be imprisoned in North Korea “after police arrested him as he prepared to board a flight at Pyongyang International Airport.”
Otto Warmbier, a University of Virginia student, was sentenced to 15 years hard labor in March for removing a sign from a wall. “Human Rights Watch called the sentence ‘outrageous and shocking.’”
62-year-old, Kim Dong-chul, reportedly a missionary, was sentenced to ten years hard labor last April (2016) for supposedly spying.
