Edited 2/3/20: I did this cartoon in innocence but with experience, not meaning it to be offensive. I asked a black trainer in Sacramento the autumn of 2019 if he thought it insulting, racist, he laughed, liked the humor. I apologize to those who don't like it because they think it racist. I turned. No one there. I continued walking downtown. Once again, uh, I felt someone following. I turned, looked, and again, no one was there. It was odd, strange… This happened several more times before I got to my office. Changing into my California Supreme Court robes it happened again. It was a, ah, a creepy god-awful sensation: a feeling, a presence, strange, disturbing. I turned -- nothing there -- so using a mirror, I searched my naked back. It was horrific -- I saw something I’d never seen before. Hair. I had back hair. I was being followed everywhere I went by back hair. No matter where I went the hair was there, following. After that I got dressed and went to work judging the legal merits of President Trump’s presidential powers in California…”

It is Democracy... Americans have been educated in regards some Islamic majority cultures, those cultures have learned of America. For every move that Trump instigates, resistance is enflamed, support solidified, and this dynamic of opposition attacks the status quo. There is an absence of tyranny when people can and do fight peaceably with purpose and effect -- no matter their passion -- for the things that they believe. The historical connection between Iraq and the U.S. has been an important aspect of each country. The reality of life in Iraq has much to do with decisions the U.S. has made since before the first Iraq War (Desert Storm). We’ve been enemies and then allies. As allies there should be a level of interaction, courtesy, respect, between our countries that would exclude placing Iraq on an immigration ban. A carbuncle is a roiled mass of skin or a beautiful gem. The incredible gem is pictured in the logo below and at the bottom of the short story section...
Kevin O'Kendley is the owner of Carbuncle Moon, and the author of all original material -- cartoons, blogs, shorts, essays, articles -- on the website (there has been a very limited editorial input in some of my work). All quoted sources are noted. I am responsible for all posts. The only blogs not time-dated are those advertising nonprofits. All nonprofits are vetted, investigated, though after the summer of 2018 my vetting has lapsed: (6/1/21).
